Adding Arm64 support for Linux would expand hardware support. In particular, it would allow Macs with Apple Silicon to run ProtoTwin in a Linux VM without x64 emulation (I tried this, and it didn’t go well). It is great that you have native support for MacOS, but running these tools in a VM can be helpful for many reasons (particularly in educational use cases). Thanks for the consideration!
Thanks for the suggestion.
At the time we added support for additional platforms to Connect, Linux on Arm64 was not well supported. However, it looks like the platform has become a little more mature since then. We should be able to add support for Linux on Arm64 in the near future.
That is awesome! Yes, Ubuntu 26.04 LTS now has an Arm64 release (for example). Thanks for the consideration and feedback!
Linux Arm64 will be available with the next release (v1.2). We tested this using Parallels on MacOS with Ubuntu 24.04, which works but runs with about half the performance of running natively (non-visualized). We also tested UTM, but unfortunately WebGL rendering doesn’t appear to work on the latest stable release.
